Welcome to Auckland, known as the ‘City of Sails’ where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Today is yours for optional activities. Stay 1 night in Auckland.
Day 2 - Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua
Travel south through lush Waikato farmland to Waitomo Caves for a boat ride under a galaxy of glowworms. Continue east to Rotorua, steeped in Maori culture and history. Tonight enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and concert. Stay 2 nights in Rotorua.
Day 3 - At Rotorua
This morning see roaring geysers and boiling mud pools at Te Puia thermal area, tame trout at Rainbow Springs and performing sheep and dogs at the Agrodome. Your afternoon is free.
Day 4 - Rotorua -Taupo - Napier
This morning travel to Taupo for a guided tour of local highlights, including the Craters of the Moon, Aratiatia Rapids and Huka Falls. Continue on to Napier, famous for it’s Art Deco architecture. Stay 1 night in Napier.
Day 5 - Napier - Wellington
Today you will journey south from Napier to the capital city of Wellington, arriving early afternoon. The rest of your day is at leisure. Stay 2 nights in Wellington.
Day 6 - At Wellington
Today is yours to discover New Zealand’s capital city. Make sure you find time to visit New Zealand’s national museum, Te Papa.
Day 7 - Wellington - Kaikoura
Cross Cook Strait by ferry to the Marlborough Sounds and Picton. The TranzCoastal train skims the spectacular coastline between the Kaikoura Ranges and the Pacific. Stay 1 night in Kaikoura.
Kaikoura - Christchurch
This morning enjoy a Whale Watch excursion, on completion board the TranzCoastal train and head south to Christchurch, arriving early evening. Your tour concludes on arrival into Christchurch.
